Welcome Letter from Steven Barentzen

Outgoing Letter from Mimsy Lindner

November 2010

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Friends of Volta Park, I want to thank you for your generous gift this year.

Volta Park Weekend was a big success. Thanks to the support of friends and neighbors like you, we raised more than $42,000. Attached is a list of all the local businesses and indivi-duals who contributed to the auction—please take a look and support the merchants who support Volta Park!

The Friends of Volta Park will use these funds to work with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DCPR) to maintain, improve, and beautify Volta Park’s grounds and gardens. Right now, for example, we’re busy getting the park ready for winter: weeding, seeding, clearing leaves and more. The park is beautiful this time of year, filled with people of all ages playing baseball and tennis, jogging around the field, admiring the foliage, and building sandcastles at the playground.

On Sunday, December 5, from 10 a.m. until noon, the Friends of Volta Park invite the young—and the young at heart—for our second annual Volta Park Breakfast with Santa. Join families across Georgetown for hot chocolate and bagels, a tree lighting, arts-and-crafts, and Santa’s arrival on an Engine 5 fire truck.

For more information about the park and how to get involved please visit, as well as the playground Web site at

Again, our deepest thanks for your gift, and we hope you will continue to support the park’s ongoing maintenance, improvement, and beautification.
